Dim Sum, Decor, Delish Dishes at Fu's Repair Shop, Edmonton

Last Updated:   •  By LingoNomad International

Dim Sum, Decor, and Delish Dishes—this is how I'd summarize my latest visit to Fu's Repair Shop, an unassuming spot near Downtown Edmonton for, well, you guessed it... Dim sum, decor, and delish dishes!

A few weeks after moving to Edmonton from Vancouver, I was served a video by either the Instagram or TikTok algorithm about Fu's Repair Shop. I'd been wanting to check it out since then!

From the outside, Fu's Repair Shop looks pretty unassuming, but once you get inside, the decor and the vibe feels almost one-of-a-kind.

Dim Sum

I started off my visit by trying out their Truffle Siu Mai.

The siu mai was pretty good, although the hint of truffle was minimal (which I kind of expected).

Main Dish

Fu's Repair Shop - Chow Ho Fun

Ho Fun (also spelled Hor Fun, 河粉, literally meaning "river" + "rice noodles") is one of my favourite Asian dishes. It is a flat rice noodle typically served in a thick, soupy (hence its name, 河 "river"), and savoury gravy cooked with eggs and vegetables. The dish is also usually paired with some kind of protein.

Considering it's been quite a while since I had Ho Fun, I decided why not give it a try here?

I ordered Fu's Chow Ho Fun as my main dish, which I would interpret as Fu's Stir-Fried Ho Fun. Since it's stir-fried, it's not soupy at all, and each strand of the flat noodle is rolled up into a flavourful bite-sized piece. Almost reminds me of a gnocchi; close but not quite.

Was it delish? Yes.

If you still have no idea on what Ho Fun is and you're not sure you want to give it a chance... worry not! There are many other dishes you can try:

Over and Out

I'll probably come back again next time to try out their other dishes. There is also an outdoor patio section that I have yet to check out!
